Getting calls or letters from debt collectors can feel overwhelming. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) gives you important protections against harassment and unfair tactics.

  • Debt collectors can’t call before 8am or after 9pm
  • No threats, lies, or abusive language allowed
  • You can request written verification of the debt
  • You have the right to dispute the debt

  • Copies of all letters and voicemails
  • Any threatening or harassing language
